I LOVE this place.
It’s hard to find somewhere that’s top-notch, without an air of pretentiousness rearing it’s ugly head. The Old Inn is such a place.
Off the main road, and quiet, located just to your right if you’re entering Gairloch from the South. Set in a wooded area, with a river quietly trickling by. Tres chilled.
A well stocked bar, crammed with local ales and planty of great whiskeys too. Wooden, walm and welcoming.
Lots of outside seating, both to the front and to the side (river view)
Large free car park with abundant space.
Beautifully appointed rooms. Well furnished and tastefully finished. Exposed dry stone walls meet with neatly finished modern touches. Huge comfortable bed! Plenty of power sockets. Lovely walk in shower; powerful and spatious.
Daym. Starter was decent; chicken liver pate etc. Main was out of this world. Rich, medium venison loin in a deep gamey sauce…excuisite! (see pics)
Friendly, professional, attentive – never over bearing. Put me at ease – perfect.
Live music! Wondefully talented young group of local musicians playing historic Scottish music – best night of the NC500 so far. We were all up dancing – truly memorable!
I want to deeply thank all of the staff at the Old Inn for such a relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable stay. I;m thinking about doing the 500 again the year after next, and you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be back – but for more than one night this time!
Liz and I just wanted to thank you for the thoughtful preparation and excellent service our guests received last Friday night at The Old Inn.
Everyone commented on how good the tasting menu was. We definitely made the right choice in coming to your for the pre-wedding socialiser.
All of the guests with allergies, especially the celiac, commented on how welcome they felt in having their needs catered for.
If we can add a comment to any review sites for you, please let us know as we would be more than happy to do so.
Many thanks and we will come visit again. This is most certainly not out last trip to Gairloch.

“Good value and great location”
We really enjoyed our recent stay here. The quirky old building is well appointed, very clean and has a welcoming feel. The staff are all friendly and helpful too. The food is also good for both quality and price, specialising in seafood but with plenty other options if that’s not your thing. Great location for exploring beautiful Wester Ross
Stayed April 2016, travelled as a couple
Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all four of you young ladies who made our stay (12th &13th April) so pleasant – It was our 25th wedding anniversary and our stay was perfect – good service and good food and we were lucky enough to have good weather. We had our honeymoon at Redpoint but have been really looking forward to these couple of days at Gairloch, you were wonderful.
Thank you so much.

The place to stay in Gairloch!”
The Old Inn is a welcome sight after the drive from Inverness. It’s a charming place that feels much bigger inside than it appears from the outside. We stayed in a dog-friendly room which was huge and really comfortable. Despite feeling as though it’s in the middle of nowhere, the restaurant was packed and the food excellent. We went for the fish and chips and it was first class. As was the Clootie pudding dessert, which is one of the best puds I’ve ever eaten!
We’ll definitely be back.

“Friendly Welcome Good Food”
Whilst in Gairloch recently stopped at The Old Inn for lunch. On entering the premises we were immediately made welcome and offered a table in the annex of the bar restaurant. The waitress explained the menus available and specials of the day before providing us with drinks ordered. We opted for soup and sandwiches and we were not disappointed with quality or quantity when the food arrived. We will definitely eat there again and if in the area it is well worth a visit.
My ideal old fashioned inn – The Old Inn Gairloch. Situated away from the centre opposite the harbour and next to a great walk up the river. Roaring fire in the lounge, great public bar, with a lounge bar and snug as well. Good selection from the food menu with blackboard special makes this an essential stop. Great that it is dog friendly as well. Looking forward to my next visit.
To the staff at The Old Inn
I stayed at the Inn mon-fri this week and had an awesome time.
The inn itself was full of character, the rooms were homely, the bar was well stocked with ale & whisky and the menu was spot on. All of this means nothing unless you have a good team to meet the needs of your customers- even the most needy and iritating ones! Fortunately the staff were great!
The staff front and back of house are an absolute credit to the business and make The Old Inn what it is (5 Stars in my opinion)!
Staff went the extra mile filling my thermos flask and serving bacon rolls (not on the menu) each morning. On return I would find my room had been tidied despite asking staff not to worry about it- very impressed! When dining in the busy bar, staff would fit us in and provide good company despite being rushed off their feet. The food was fantastic and served impressively quickly- perfect for hungry dudes!
No doubt see you again.
Just wanted to say a big thank you to all the staff for making our stay at The Old Inn last weekend so memorable. We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Your warm welcome and the friendly atmosphere were much appreciated. The Taster Menu is a fantastic idea and we hope to repeat the experience again in the future!
With very best wishes and thanks again

‘great welcome and lovely attention’
Just wanted to say thank you for such a lovely lunch on Thursday. All of us enjoyed the eats! Thank you. We enjoyed the cosy room we ate in too – it allowed us to be all together and chatting which we enjoyed. Thank you for looking after us so well – great welcome and lovely attention. We appreciated it and it helped make our day out a great success.
With kind regards

We really enjoyed our weekend in Gairloch and the Old Inn especially.
The hotel was easy to find, with good parking. The setting was excellent with a lovely stone footbridge over the small river (tributary?) right outside the hotel entrance.
Of course the weather does make a difference but the friendliness of the hotel staff made up for one rainy day. The food was excellent and nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
We stayed in Room 15, We really enjoyed that room and felt that passing the kitchens to get to it caused no irritation at all. The facilities in the room were good, with the twin leather settee (thankfully) not situated for watching the TV. There were plenty of sockets for charging our phones etc.
The shower was excellent and I particularly enjoyed the storage space and the towel heater. In all we had a very enjoyable stay.

“Such a welcoming place”
As the owners of two Bernese Mountain Dogs, it is difficult to
find a welcome when eating out but The Old Inn is an exception.
As soon as we arrived at our table, they were brought a bowl
of water each and the staff were very friendly towards them.
The food was delicious, the service faultless and the setting
beautiful, what more could we ask. Thank you for a most

“Want to compliment you on the cleanliness of your Inn”
Reviewed 26 May 2014
I just want to compliment you on the cleanliness of your Inn. We were residents from Friday 23 May- Sun 26 May, staying in your Family double room as it was the disabled room I needed. I am unable to walk, and I needed to crawl various places ( which gives me an unusual perspective of thing), I was very much impressed by how pristine everything was in the entire Inn. I could tell the high standard was evident through out the Inn, even when a bench was moved in the bar area there was rubbish or dust!! I want to praise you and your staff. This is the cleanest place I have ever stayed. Which is an even greater accomplishment as the Inn is old. I was also impressed with your excellent positioning of grab rails in all the toilets. The restaurant had excellent food and varied menu. Finally I was very impressed with your staff. They were all very helpful and happy. All in all our short break was one of the best I have ever had. I would also appreciate if you pass on my praise to the town council as to the cleanliness of the harbour disabled toilet, again very clean. My time in Gairloch was very enjoyable.
I will gladly recommend your Inn to my friends

Went get for a meal and drinks before returning home the next day. Two families with two younger children and five adults. The service was excellent even though we arrived at quite a busy time (6:00pm, Friday). We didn’t wait long until our food was served and what an excellent meal it was. Locally caught seafood is prominent on the menu and we’ll worth a try. As we weren’t staying at the hotel, I can’t comment on the rooms, but the standard of the hotel that we could see would suggest that the rooms would be similar.
Overall, I can’t fault this place and will definitely return when we’re back that way.
“A great place”
Stayed with my husband and friends for three nights. The rooms where nice and comfortable, and the food was great. The staff was helpful and friendly. Nothing to complain abour at all. The hotell and pub was busy all three nights, but the food arrived in time. I would recommened this hotel to everyone who wants to explore the north and westcoast of Scotland. dont forget to drive to Applecross! Have lunch at The Pottery Shed; great seafood
“Excellent as usual”
Group of 14 bikers descended and were looked after fantastically well. Good food, timely service, good value and beer called Sheep Shagger (we are from Aberdeen after all). Because the group was staying at the Highland Lodge up the road (same owners) we received a 10% discount on the meal.
“A great place for food”
Arrived late afternoon after a long drive up ( landslide shut road = 80 miles detour) and we were ready for a rest and a good meal. We were not disappointed.
We stayed at its sister hotel in Gareloch due to the pub being full but it was only 2 mins away. The sister hotel was reasonably priced, clean and the room was adequate if small and the breakfast was excellent.
Dinner at the Old Inn pub was excellent, ambiance warm and friendly. The Manageress was lovely and she explained that she employed French,Spanish and German speaking staff to help with the many foreign tourists who came to this beautiful part of Scotland.
Well worth a visit
