Whats on in Gairloch
Wester Ross has some of the most beautiful coastal and mountain scenery
of any part of the Scottish Highlands. Its remoteness means that it
is quiet and peaceful even at the height of the summer months.
The vast expanses of wild countryside are home to red deer, pine martins,
the magnificent golden eagle and the elusive sea eagle. The seas around
Wester Ross are home to a multitude of marine mammals – seals,
porpoises, dolphins, otters and whales.www.hebridean-whale-cruises.co.uk/
A pony trekking centre is situated within walking distance further
up the glen. For more info -www.gairlochtrekkingcentre.co.uk
The landscapes of Wester Ross have it all – towering mountains,
glorious sweeping sandy beaches, miles of breathtaking unspoilt coastline,
sea and hill lochs, rich forests and wild open moorland. Here you can
find freedom, space and solitude in abundance.
There are many fine walks and climbs locally, and for the hardened
mountain trekker a range of challenges are within easy reach with over
25 munros ( over 3,000ft) only a short drive away such as An Teallach
in the Fisher field and Slioch, Liathach and Bienn Eighe in Torridon.
The world famous Inverewe Gardens are only 7 miles away. The Perfume
Studio, Scotland’s only working perfume studio is just a short-drive
north. A unique experience not to be missed and a great place to pick
up that special present. An ‘illicit still’ is another
unique place to visit, again, just a short-drive north to Aultbea.
See how whisky was secretly made over 200 years ago, hidden from the
keen eyes of the customs and excise officers.
There is so much to do; safe swimming from many golden beaches; superb
bird watching; sailing & marine activities can be enjoyed from
Gairloch Harbour; visit the award winning local heritage museum; or
you can participate in a variety of activities at Gairloch leisure
center.
If you want more from your holiday than soaking up the magnificent
scenery, Wester Ross has plenty of other attractions and activities
to keep holidaymakers fully occupied.

Gem’ course set on the shore of Loch Gairloch offers glorious
